Haflong: In a significant operation, the Haflong Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized foreign-made cigarettes worth approximately Rs 3 lakh and apprehended a man travelling on train number 12514 UP on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Dilip Krishna Gupta (34), son of Madan Prasad from Bihiya village, Ara district, Bihar, was found carrying 150 packets of Super Slim Esse Lights cigarettes, totalling 1,500 small packets. The contraband, made in Korea, was seized by SIPF R. Ramyothing.
Following the seizure, the accused and the confiscated cigarettes were handed over to the IC/GRP/NHLG for further legal action as per the law. Authorities estimate the total value of the smuggled cigarettes at Rs 3 lakh.
