Four killed in pre-dawn road accident on National Highway-37 in Hojai district

A wave of shock and grief swept across Hojai district after a tragic road accident claimed the lives of four individuals in Nilbagan early Friday morning.

HOJAI/KHERONI: A wave of shock and grief swept across Hojai district after a tragic road accident claimed the lives of four individuals in Nilbagan early Friday morning. The fatal incident took place around 3:30 am on National Highway 37, when a Swift Dzire (registration number AS-02-W-6439) travelling from Guwahati towards Lanka lost control and crashed into the highway railing at Nilbagan. According to reports, two of the victims died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the hospital.

Upon receiving information, local police promptly reached the scene, rushed the injured to the hospital, and initiated an investigation. The deceased have been identified as Hari Chauhan (45) from Laskarpathar in Hojai, Mahesh Yadav (46) from Maj Basti in West Karbi Anglong, Nabi Singh (41) from Hojai, and Rahul Dibragade (35) from Bordolong, Lanka.

Police have sent the bodies for autopsy and are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The tragic incident has cast a pall of gloom over the local community.
