PATHSALA: In a world where relationships are often fleeting, the extraordinary love story of Shubham Shukla from Mumbai and Richa Kalita from Pathsala, Assam, stands as a powerful reminder that true love knows no boundaries.

Shubham, a street singer from Mumbai, and Richa, a brilliant differently-abled student, met through the singing app Star Maker. What began as a digital connection soon blossomed into a deep emotional bond that changed the course of their lives.

Richa, who has been unable to walk since birth, earned recognition in her community for her academic excellence. Shubham, meanwhile, supported his ailing mother by singing on the streets of Mumbai, earning a modest income of Rs. 700–800 per day. Despite their different backgrounds, their connection grew stronger with time. When Shubham’s mother fell critically ill, her last wish was to see her son married. Honouring her dying wish, Shubham traveled all the way to Assam and married Richa in a traditional temple ceremony in Pathsala. Just a month after the wedding, his mother passed away.

In a remarkable show of love and commitment, Shubham sold their house in Mumbai and relocated permanently to Pathsala to begin a new life with Richa. Today, the couple lives in a rented home, facing financial challenges but staying strong together. Shubham stands by Richa in every aspect of life — from household chores to supporting her education. He helped her enroll in Bhattadev University so she could continue her studies. Previously, Richa studied at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, where teachers used to carry her to class everyday — a testament to both her determination and the compassion of her mentors.

Using part of his savings, Shubham even purchased a small piece of land in Pathsala, symbolizing his long-term commitment to their shared future.

Their story is more than a tale of romance — it is one of sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering support. In a world where love often falters under pressure, Shubham and Richa’s journey proves that true love not only exists — it thrives, against all odds.
