JAMUGURIHAT: As a part of the centenary celebration of the birth year of legendary writer Keshab Mahanta, a panel discussion convened by the Jamugurihat branch of Natun Sahitya Parishad was held in the conference hall of Abhijatri Kala Kendra here on Wednesday with Arun Das, President of the Parishad in the chair. Prem Narayan Goswami, veteran essayist and Headmaster of Jamuguri Academy and columnist Basav Bhuyan attended the panel discussion as panellists. The duo tried to present a complete picture of Keshab Mahanta and his contribution in the field of art, literature, folklife, music and the Assamese way of life.
At the very outset of the meeting, a chorus was performed. Nagen Bora, president of the Jamuguri regional committee of Natun Sahitya Parishad garlanded the portrait of Keshab Mahanta. It was followed by offering of floral tribute by Dharanidhar Das, former state Secretary of Natun Sahitya Parishad. A series of literary creations of Keshab Mahanta were read out by the members of the Parishad followed by his evergreen songs. Munmi Bora Borthakur, Ratul Koch, Ridip Bora, Amulya Bora, Ashrumani Bora, Nirada Hazarika, and Gourav Borthakur read out poems and sang songs composed by Keshab Mahanta. Gynendra Sarkar, President of Sonitpur district committee of Natun Sahitya Parishad, addressed the session and delivered an organizational lecture. The meeting was attended by dignitaries of the area.
