KHERONI: The Taxation Department of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has issued a directive requiring traders operating at Block No. 12 of Diphu Main Market to submit their original trading licenses and temporary trading permits for verification within 7 working days. This move, aligned with Section 5 of the Karbi Anglong District (Trading by Non-Tribals) Regulation Act, 1953, aims to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and authenticate trader credentials.
Traders must furnish original licences/permits along with supporting documents; including address proof/land pattas/tax payment receipt etc. The directive, enforced under departmental order No. KAAC/TAX/TRADE/2020-21/112/48/1289, underscores the council’s intensified efforts to monitor commercial activities. Authorities have warned that failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in cancellation of trading licenses as per legal provisions.
The KAAC emphasized that the verification process is critical to maintaining a fair and regulated trading environment. “This step ensures only authorized businesses operate within the council’s jurisdiction, safeguarding both tribal interests and revenue integrity,” an official stated.
