DEMOW: In a shocking development in the case of a missing woman, the body of Dipti Tanti was recovered from the Desang River on June 21. A major twist emerged after police interrogation revealed that her husband, Naren Tanti, confessed to orchestrating her murder.

According to police sources, Naren Tanti admitted during questioning that he paid Rs 20,000 to one Dip Pandav to kill his wife and dispose of her body in the river. Acting on this information, Demow Police arrested Dip Pandav, who was later produced before the Sivasagar Court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Naren Tanti remains in police custody and is currently under remand. He held the position of president of the Sivasagar District Committee of the All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA).

Following his confession, the association has taken strict disciplinary action. Deben Orang, Acting Secretary of AASAA, announced on Tuesday that Naren Tanti has been expelled from both the presidency of the district committee and from primary membership of the organization. Members of AASAA and local residents have demanded strict punishment for Naren Tanti, emphasizing the need for justice in this tragic case.
