SIVASAGAR: Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Law & Justice, General Administration, and Tourism Departments, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, visited Sivasagar district on Thursday and chaired a review meeting with key district officials at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting, held in the presence of Sivasagar District Commissioner Aayush Garg, focused on evaluating the progress of various schemes and initiatives under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, and Tourism Department.
Minister Dass reviewed the schemes through a detailed PowerPoint presentation which outlined both achievements and challenges in execution. He focused particular attention on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) and instructed the concerned departments to ensure the completion of all under-construction rural houses within October 2025. He emphasized timely completion and quality of construction to achieve housing targets for the rural poor. The minister also assessed ongoing projects under MGNREGA, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, Amrit Sarovar, and the 15th Finance Commission. The Minister also took a keen interest in the Tourism Department’s ongoing projects in Sivasagar, a historically significant district known for its Ahom-era monuments and cultural heritage. He asked the officials to expedite the development of tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors and enhance the local economy.
Moreover, Dass encouraged the implementation of innovative and community-beneficial projects under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. He highlighted the importance of participatory rural planning and urged field-level officers to promote people-centric and locally sustainable projects that address grassroots challenges.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Sivasagar Zilla Parishad Satish Chandra Thakuria, Demow Co-District Commissioner Partha Pratim Khanikar, Assistant Commissioner KN Chandana Jahnavi, Block Development Officers, and other relevant departmental officials and staff.
