NAGAON: A review meeting was held at the Commissioner’s office in Nagaon on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by Minister Rupesh Gowala. Senior officials from various departments, including Labour, Health, Public Health Engineering, Electricity, Education, Women and Child Development, Industry, and Panchayat and Rural Development attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the progress of various projects and schemes in the district, including the implementation of the Tea Garden Labour Welfare Scheme, the Jal Jeevan Mission, and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. The minister emphasized the need for regular monitoring and evaluation of these projects to ensure their successful implementation.

He also instructed the officials to ensure that the tea garden workers receive their provident fund and gratuity benefits on time. He also emphasized the importance of providing clean drinking water to all households in the tea garden areas.

The meeting was attended by several officials, including the District Commissioner, Additional District Commissioners, and representatives from the tea gardens and other organizations. The minister urged the officials to work together to ensure the successful implementation of the government’s schemes and projects in the district.

Gowala also discussed the issue of child labour in the district and the need for stricter enforcement of laws to prevent child labour. He instructed the officials to conduct regular inspections and take strict action against those who employ child labour. Overall, the meeting was a significant step towards ensuring the welfare of the people in the district, particularly those working in the tea gardens, stated an official press note.
