Morigaon: In observance of World Environment Day, the Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association (MMASA) along with Road Kings Axom has launched an environmentally responsible initiative to combat the use of single-use plastic.

As part of the campaign to “Beat Plastic Pollution,” the organizations conducted a cleanliness drive at the sacred Mahesh Dham Temple, located about 10 km from Morigaon town along the Morigaon-Jagiroad-Guwahati road. During the drive, members of the organization collected scattered plastic waste, such as bags and bottles, from the temple premises and packed them into garbage bags for proper disposal.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Ranjan Barthakur, a member of MMASA, said, “This drive against single-use plastic, which we began today at the holy site, will continue as part of our commitment to building a plastic-free environment.”
