LAKHIMPUR: Mangalmoy Patrika, a unique journal regularly published from Lakhimpur, completed its glorious eight years and entered in 9th year on Saturday. The monthly journal has been regularly published by Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, a social institution of Lakhimpur, which has been dedicatedly working for the uplift of the humanity, nature, language and culture, eduction and health since its inception.
In order to celebrate the completion of the eight years, Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, organized a ceremonial programme titled as 'Jatra, Barta, Samay Aru Bhavishyat' in the office of the journal at Nakari in North Lakhimpur town. Simultaneously, the institution organized a Shradhanjali programme to pay tribute to Swarna Dhekial Phukan, a prominent writer from Lakhimpur, who breathed her last a few days back.
The event was chaired by Niran Kumar Borah, the former Assistant Secretary of Axam Xahitya Xabha. It started with the lighting of earthen lamps by writer Nripen Phukan. Chief Editor of Mangalamoy Patrika-cum-Director of Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, Jiten Baruah explained the objective of the programme and delivered the welcome address. In connection, he explained what obstacles the journal had to overcome during its eight year long journey. In the same event, Ambedkar Fellowship Award winner writer Prasanta Kumar Nath released the eight years' 12th issue of the Mangalmoy Patrika. Attending the event, retired professor Narayan Baruah, writer, poet-cum-journalist Ranjit Kakati, poets Ganesh Bhuyan, Dayananda Goswami, Bhagalakhi Deka, Dipak Bordoloi delivered lectures expressing optimism on the future prospect of the journal and paying tribute to Late Swarna Dhekial Phukan.
Notably, Mangalmoy Patrika has created a section of serious readers and talented writers during the last eight years' period. The journal is circulated to almost all the districts of the State at present.
