NAGAON: As a part of NABARD’s 44th Foundation Day celebrations, the DDM-Nagaon and Hojai districts, Rajendar Perna, organized a special Cooperative Literacy Campaign in the conference hall of the office of DC, Hojai, at Srimanta Sankardev Nagar recently.
The event was presided over by DC, Hojai Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati and was attended by the ARCS, Deepak Bathari, SRCS Imdad Ali, LDM MN Bora, DAO Altab Hussain, SDAO Jumur Goswami, BM ACAB Amit Goswami, DVO Lochan Talukdar, and chairmen/ secretaries of all the GPSS & newly-promoted MPACS from Hojai district.
During the campaign, DDM-NABARD Rajendar Perna made a detailed presentation regarding various initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Cooperation (MoC), Govt of India, to realize the vision of “Sahkar-se-Samriddhi,” strengthen the Coop movement in India, deepen its reach to the grassroots, and transform Coops into successful and vibrant business enterprises. He also discussed about adoption of Model Bye-Laws by PACS, Computerization of PACS, establishing New Multipurpose PACS/ Dairy/ Fishery Coops in uncovered Panchayats, World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in Coop sector, PACS as CSCs, establishment of retail Petrol/Diesel outlets, LPG distributorship, PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra, PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendra, convergence of PM-KUSUM Scheme, Bhoomi Poojan of country’s 1st Coop University ‘Tribhuvan’ Sahkari University in Anand, Gujarat, etc.
The ARCS, Deepak Bathari, shared the status of the PACS Computerization programme in Hojai district and informed that efforts had been expedited to complete the ERP Audit and reach the ePACS stage in respect of all the GPSS identified in Phase-I.
Thereafter, as an invited guest, the secretary of Duarbagori Cooperative Society Ltd. (DCSL), Ataur Rahman, spoke about the credit and non-credit activities being undertaken by them. He also highlighted the efforts undertaken by the DCSL team to overcome various challenges in reaching the present stage. He expressed his gratitude to the Central & State Governments and institutions like NABARD, NCDC, IFFCO, etc. for overcoming various hindrances. The DAO & SDAO guided the participants regarding natural/ organic farming.
In his address, the DC-Hojai, Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati, highlighted the efforts and initiatives by Central and State Government departments and institutions like NABARD in realizing the theme of International Year of Cooperatives, 2025 i.e. ‘Cooperatives, Build a Better World.’ He suggested that all the issues in Computerization of PACS must be resolved expeditiously so that all the identified GPSS from the district should become and function as ePACS. He suggested the BoDs to venture into diversified activities, so as to provide more benefits to its farmer-members. He also highlighted the key objects of the recently-released National Cooperation Policy, 2025 viz. developing five model Coop villages in every tehsil, establishing Coop societies in sectors like tourism, taxi services, insurance & green energy. He stressed upon the Government of India’s priority to triple the Coop sector’s contribution to GDP by 2034, bring 50 crore active members into the Coop fold, 30% increase in the number of Coop societies and the establishment of at least one Coop society in every village.
The event concluded with handing over of registration certificates to two newly-promoted MPACS viz. Radhanagar MPACS and Hayang Basti MPACS, an official release added.
