National Fish Farmers Day observed at Sivasagar with farmer felicitations

Along with the rest of the country, the District Fishery Development Office, Sivasagar celebrated the National Fish Farmers Day on July 10 by visiting some of the progressive fish farmers

GAURISAGAR: Along with the rest of the country, the District Fishery Development Office, Sivasagar celebrated the National Fish Farmers Day on July 10 by visiting some of the progressive fish farmers of the district. This individual door-step visit to the farmer’s places on this occasion of National Fish Farmers Day was aimed to express gratitude, recognize, and appreciate the hard work of the fish farmers. The officials of DFDO Sivasagar thanked the fish farmers for the vital role played by them in providing food and livelihood for the community. The door-to-door visits, made at different locations, were marked by fruitful interaction and felicitation of the farmers.

A field day exposure of students from Gargaon College was organized by the DFDO Sivasagar at the farm of Partha Pratim Neog of Gaurisagar Dev Block where various integrated fish farming practices were demonstrated to the interns. Jayanta Gogoi of Demow Dev Block and Biren Koiri of Nazira Dev block who are emerging fish seed producers and growers, and few other farmers  from Amguri and Kheluwa Dev Block of Sivasagar district were visited by the departmental officials felicitated by the team of DFDO, Sivasagar.
