GAURISAGAR: Krishak Nyas, a leading NGO of Sivasagar district, organized a daylong health and sanitation awareness meeting at Gaurisagar’s Mitongpar village on Saturday. The meeting was anchored by Rajib Dutta, Publicity Secretary of Krishak Nyas, while Vice-President Ajit Kumar Nath chaired the meeting.
The meeting was inaugurated by Dr Tajim Ahmed, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer (SDMO) Gaurisagar Block Primary Health Centre (BPHC). In his speech, he stressed on the rise of encephalitis disease and its prevention. He appealed to the villagers to clean their household areas so that water was not blocked. He even urged the use of mosquito nets while sleeping. The meeting was attended by Dr Sangeeta Konwar, Medical Officer, Gaurisagar BPHC, Kalyan Bora, Assistant Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department(PHED), Sivasagar, and Wahida Begum, Junior Engineer, PHED, Sivasagar, as resource persons .The resource persons stated that one must not only be healthy oneself but also be able to move society forward on the path of health and cleanliness.
Earlier, Himadrijyoti Dutta, Chief Secretary of Krishak Nyas, narrated briefly about the activities of the organization while Welfare Secretary Kamaksha Baruah offered vote of thanks to all. The meeting was attended by Tridib Mahanta, Pharmacist, Sangeet Gogoi, MPW, and Atul Saikia of Gaurisagar BPHC.
In the meeting, on behalf of the village, Lochan Milli, a retired employee of the Inland Water Transport department, praised the activities of the Krishak Nyas. At the same time, he urged upon the health department to conduct fogging to protect the village from mosquito infestation. The SDMO of Gaurisagar BPHC assured the meeting that fogging would be conducted in the village soon.
