NUMALIGARH: The historic Babathan in Numaligarh witnessed a massive turnout of devotees today as thousands gathered to celebrate Maha Shivaratri. The revered shrine, a prominent center of Hindu worship in the region, was abuzz with activity as men, women, and children of all ages thronged the premises to offer prayers and participate in the festivities.
According to eyewitnesses, the 39th National Highway, which connects Numaligarh to other parts of the state, was choked with traffic as devotees made their way to the shrine. The celebrations, which began early in the morning, featured special puja ceremonies, cultural events, and traditional music performances. Devotees also offered prayers and performed rituals to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
The local administration and police department made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations and maintain law and order in the area.
Meanwhile, traders and vendors from various parts of the state set up stalls selling traditional items, souvenirs, and local delicacies, adding to the festive atmosphere. The historic Numaligarh Babathan, which has been a center of Hindu worship for centuries, attracts devotees from all over the state and beyond during the Maha Shivaratri celebrations.
