Panchayat Election 2025: 57.65% voters’ turnout in Hojai district

Phase 2 of Panchayat polls in Hojai saw peaceful voting at 774 booths with 57.65% turnout across Hojai, Lumding & Binnakandi.

Hojai: The second phase of the Panchayat elections in Hojai district concluded peacefully on Wednesday, with voters turning out at 774 polling stations across three assembly constituencies — Hojai, Lumding, and Binnakandi.

Polling began at 7:30 a.m. and continued till 4:30 p.m. The election witnessed an overall voter turnout of 57.65%, though this figure is expected to rise as post-voting updates are compiled.

A total of 6,30,600 voters were eligible to cast their franchise in this election. Of these, 3,23,000 were male, 3,07,591 female, and 9 transgender voters. The elections were held for 12 Zila Parishads, 68 Gaon Panchayats, 680 wards, and 5 Anchalik Panchayats, with 2,099 candidates in the fray. Notably, at Kaki ZPC, the BJP candidate won unopposed.

The peaceful conduct of the elections reflects positively on the election management in the district. It is noteworthy that, at the time of filing this report, voting was still ongoing in some polling stations within the district.
