HAFLONG: In a major political development, several prominent leaders from different political parties formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a solemn function held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Haflong. The event marks a significant step in strengthening the BJP’s presence in Dima Hasao district ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
The joining ceremony was graced by Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa in the presence of District President Dhriti Thaosen, Executive Members (EM) Donpainon Thousen and Paudaming Riame, Members of the Autonomous Council (MAC) Naoh Daime and Ramgalungbe Zeme, along with other BJP leaders, office bearers, and party workers. The new members were warmly welcomed with traditional rituals and party insignia.
Among those who joined the BJP were Aching Zeme, District Trinamool Congress (TMC) president Lathangjoswa Nampui, TMC District Secretary Paunamsaulak Newme, President of Hangrum Mandal Diluram Joisi, and Indian National Congress (INC) Haflong Mandal President, along with more than 300 supporters. Each new entrant brings with them valuable experience and strong grassroots connections.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP District President Dhriti Thaosen said he was confident that the inclusion of such seasoned leaders would further energize the party’s organizational base and deepen its outreach in the hill district. “Their decision to join the BJP reflects the growing trust in our party’s vision for inclusive development, cultural preservation, and infrastructural progress in Dima Hasao,” he stated.
The newly inducted leaders expressed their commitment to the BJP’s principles of national unity, transparent governance, and tribal welfare. They pledged to work collectively for the development of the district and contribute actively to the party’s mission.
