Prior to this, he was felicitated at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s office ‘Bajpayee Bhaban’ situated at Borguri, Tinsukia by Tinsukia District and Mandal Committee, Tinsukia Municipal Board (TMB) and Tinsukia Development Authority (TDA). The meeting was anchored by Chairman, TMB Pulak Chetia and was attended by BJP, Tinsukia District Committee’s President Kushakanta Bora, Chairman, TDA Kajol Gohain, Vice-Presidents Mulendra Moran, Arunjyoti Moran, and others. After receiving felicitation, Minister Gowala said that it would be his endeavour to work day and night for the welfare of all the people.
On his way to Doomdooma, he was received first at Barhapjan by the BJP workers, wherefrom he was brought to Uchamati area of the town in a bike rally. He was then brought to the main venue at Doomdooma Town field on foot in accompaniment of different cultural groups.
The felicitation programme was attended by Chairperson, Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB) Kanta Bhattacharya , Vice-chairman Moni Dutta, Principal, Doomdooma college Dr Kamleswar Kalita, Chief Executive, Moran Autonomous Council Arunjyoti Moran, and others.
He was offered felicitations by about 80 organizations, including Doomdooma Satadol Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Doomdooma Press Club, Assam Science Society, Doomdooma Branch, Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, Doomdooma College, Hoonlal HS School, Àsam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (ATTSA), All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA), and others.
Significantly, although Doomdooma is predominantly a Tea-tribes majority area and is popularly known as Tea City, yet Gowala was inducted as a minister after a gap of three decades since MLA Dileswar Tanti (now deceased) was allotted the portfolio of Minister for Labour in Hiteswar Saikia ministry in the early nineties.
Gowala, who comes from a poor tea labourer-family, became emotional when he stood up to speak and thanked Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmah profusely for reposing on him this faith. He said that on receiving the news his mother told him not to feel elated and be a changed person after becoming a minister. He acknowledged that what he was today was all because of people’s love and good wishes to him.
Later in the evening, Minister Gowala was felicitated by BJP at Doomdooma Marwari Panchayati Bhaban.
