Seminar on heritage elements of North East gets underway at RRNMU Guest House in Tezpur

A two-day national seminar on ‘Sustainability of Heritage Elements of North East India’ began at RRNMU Guest House at Tezpur on Thursday on the occasion of International Museums Day 2023

TEZPUR: A two-day national seminar on ‘Sustainability of Heritage Elements of North East India’ began at RRNMU Guest House at Tezpur on Thursday on the occasion of International Museums Day 2023 organized by the Directorate of Museums, Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture Department of the Government of Assam in collaboration with the International Council of Museums, Indian Committee.

The inaugural session was attended by MLA Tezpur Prithiraj Rava, ADC Romy Baruah, Curator, Assam State Museum, Snigdha Hasnu, Professor Dr Dwipen Bezbaruah of the Department of Anthropology, Gauhati University, District Museum Officer Abhilash Rajkhowa, representatives from Assam State Museum and researchers from various universities across the country.

Professor Dr Dwipen Bezbaruah delivered the key-note address at the inaugural session. Researchers and representatives from various educational and research institutions, including Tezpur University, IIT, Kharagpur, Benaras Hindu University, University of Delhi, Gauhati University, Assam University and others presented papers on various topics during the technical sessions. The first session was presided over by Prof Dwipen Bezbaruah and the second session of the day was presided over by Dr Ritu Thaosen, Associate Professor of the Department of History, Cotton University.

There will be two technical sessions on the second day of the seminar as well. The first session will be chaired by Dr Suryasikha Pathak, Head of the Department of Tribal Studies, Assam University, Diphu campus and the second session will be presided over by District Museum Officer, Karbi Anglong, Dr Kaustav Saikia.
