TINSUKIA: Special Immunization Drive (SID) began in Tinsukia on Friday and will continue till January 25. The main objective of Special Immunization Drive is to ensure coverage of children with all scheduled vaccines as per Universal Immunization Program and PW with Td, throughout the state with emphasis on the unidentified high priority areas.
There are 118 identified sub-centres for SID sessions with 151 sessions planned across the district. The total number of targeted children is 1230, which includes different age groups from 0-5 years in the Tinsukia district covering 4 health blocks. The targeted beneficiaries during the SID will be the left-out and drop-out children up to 5 years of age for all antigens and pregnant women to be vaccinated with Td as identified in the Head Count Survey. This special drive will be conducted in all the blocks of Tinsukia district and will focus intensely on vacant sub-centres, sub-centres that have not conducted RI in the last three months, and poor-performing SCs (SCs with high drop-out rates and left-out children) through additional sessions.
However, the left-out and drop-out children in remaining areas would be covered through updated micro-plans and community mobilization activities under routine immunization sessions. The entire drive would be supported through intensified monitoring and supportive supervision through medical college faculties and development partners.
