Summer workshop on folk dances in Morigaon to promote Ojapali and Deodhoni

In a bid to promote folk dances as well as to encourage emerging talents, the state government organized a summer workshop under the Director of Cultural Affairs, Guwahati, for youths.

MORIGAON: In a bid to promote folk dances as well as to encourage emerging talents, the state government organized a summer workshop under the Director of Cultural Affairs, Guwahati, for youths.

Along with the rest of the state, a seven-day workshop on folk dances 'Ojapali' and 'Deodhoni' commenced from Tuesday at Habibarangabari in Morigaon. The workshop will conclude on July 14. The workshop has been organized by Morigaon district Cultural Center under Director of Cultural Affairs, Nath-Sahitya Sanskriti Sanmilan, Nath Jugi Unnayan Parishad, and Habibarangabari Satriya Sanskriti Mahavidyalaya.

The Principal, Dr Kamal Ch Nath, inaugurated the workshop by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The workshop was moderated by the Secretary of NSSS, Jitumoni Nath. A meeting was held which was presided by the President of NSSS, Lakhyajyoti Nath, and attended by the Assistant Commissioner, organization's Treasurer Niruprabha Devi, Advocate Mrinal Deka, Advisor Basanta Kumar Nath, Kalpataru Choudhary, Jayant Kumar Nath, Vice-President Bolen Chandra Barua, Satriya College"s  Principal Surya Nath, Principal Ranjit Bhuyan, artiste Chintu Bardoloi, and others.

The event also honoured 12 representatives who won the Panchayat elections and 4 meritorious students who secured distinction marks.
