NAGAON: The birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a freedom fighter, politician, and former minister of independent India, was celebrated by Mera Yuva Bharat, Nagaon and Hojai, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The celebrations were held at Jajori Dhalpuria Ananta Primary School and 2nd Kaki Srimanta Sankardev School in Nagaon and Hojai districts, respectively. The programme included lighting lamps, paying tributes, and holding a discussion session on Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s life and philosophy.
A speech competition was also held among students. At the discussion session in Jajori, key speaker Naren Deka, a noted folk culture exponent and CRCC of the Education Department, delivered a captivating speech on Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s life and philosophy.
Prominent social worker Deepak Mahanta, cultural organizer Dharma Prasad Kalita, and others were present at the event.
In Hojai, the programme was held at the 2nd Srimanta Sankardev School, where the school’s Headmaster Phulen Saikia, and Science Teacher Achyut Thakuriya, spoke about Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s personality, political life, and role in the freedom struggle.
Other dignitaries, including social worker Bhaskar Jyoti Nath, Shankardev school management committee President Praban Bora, and youth leader Dadul Bora, attended the event and delivered speeches.
