TANGLA: The persistent problem of traffic congestion in Tangla town of Udalguri district has once again come to the fore, with indiscriminate parking of goods-carrying vehicles along the busy Tangla-Bhergaon (TB) Road emerging as a major concern especially in wake of the ongoing construction of the road. Transport companies operating in Tangla town routinely park their trucks and commercial vans along the TB Road for the purpose of loading and unloading goods. This practice leads to severe traffic bottlenecks, inconveniencing commuters, shopkeepers, and schoolchildren alike, especially during peak hours including in the evening.

The Udalguri DTO and Udalguri police have also been turning a blind eye to the problem despite repeated requests of citizens for stern measures against the goods-carrying vehicles. Local residents and daily commuters expressed their frustration over the situation, “Sometimes, the road is blocked for over 30 minutes. Emergency vehicles also get stuck,” said Pappu Dey, a resident of Ward No. 3 of the town. The concerned citizens urged Udalguri DTO and the traffic branch of Tangla police to resolve the issue at the earliest.
