Arpana Talukdar Deka, passed away on May 21 due to cardiac arrest at the age of 68 years at her residence in Namghar Path, Lakhimi Nagar, Guwahati. Born at Muguria village to Dr Ram Nath Talukdar and Hemada Talukdar in Pathsala of Barpeta district on April 6, 1954, she passed BA in 1977 with honours in Assamese from Bajali College, Pathsala. She joined as Assistant Teacher in Pachonia High School of Bongaigaon district in 1980 and continued her service in Chandrapur High School, Chandrapur and retired from Arya Vidyapeeth H.S. & M.P. School, Guwahati in 2016. After retirement from the service, she was associated with many social organizations and had wide knowledge in Sanskrit Language and Vedic literatures. She was widely known as vaishnavite religious woman. She is survived by her husband Dr. Jatindra Nath Deka, retired Additional Director of Industries and Commerce, Assam, a daughter, two sons, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandsons and a host of relatives.
Today, on her Adya shradhya, we pray for eternal peace to her departed soul and to give courage to the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.
