BONGAIGAON: Personal rivalry led to an attempted murder case in the North Salmara area of Bongaigaon district. The victim, Ghanasyam Ray, a resident of North Salmara area, was stabbed by another local, Bhagirath Ray, at about 12 noon on Thursday.
Talking to the press, victim Gahanasyam Ray said that it was a trivial personal matter which led to such a dreaded incident. “Actually one of my friends, Arup Barua, is a neighbour to Bhagirath Ray. Arup Barua cut a tree today which had fallen inside Bhagirath’s campus. It led to a clash between them. I was there and tried to solve the matter by saying that the tree fallen inside Bhagirath’s campus will be cleared by Arup. We were discussing the matter when Bhagirath suddenly brought a sharp weapon and attacked me. I was injured but somehow saved my life by running away from the spot.”
Later the police arrived and arrested Bhagirath Ray. Police stated that an enquiry was on.
