KOKRAJHAR: UPPL on Wednesday claimed that the party would occupy at least 10-12 seats in the ensuing Assembly election and join the coalition government at Dispur.

Talking to mediapersons in an electioneering meeting of the UPPL candidate of Kokrajhar ST constituency, Lawrence Islary, at Joypur, the President of the UPPL and Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Boro, said that the UPPL would win 10 to 12 seats out of the 18 contested, 15 in BTC and 3 outside. He said that the UPPL established peace among all sections of people in BTC, but that the sense of insecurity in the minds of the people was growing since the BPF returned to power. He said that no one had to pay any bribe in the name of appointments during the UPPL regime, but now only a selective group of youths and leaders, with close affiliation with Hagrama Mohilary, were enjoying all privileges.

Boro further said that the BPF candidate of Kokrajhar, Seuli Mohilary, wife of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, was not accessible to the general public. He said that, on the other hand, the UPPL candidate, Lawrence Islary, had an open heart for all people. He called upon the people not to encourage nepotism and candidates who will not allow visitors to their residences. He also assured that there would be public visiting centres for the public to meet the MLA if Islary was elected.
