A CORRESPONDENT
NAGAON: A workshop focused on promotion of tourism and hospitality sector development was hosted on July 1 by Hojai Unnayan Manch (HUM), a leading NGO of Hojai, at the conference hall of Jugijan Development Block, Hojai, in conjunction with DICC, Hojai.
The programme was sponsored as well as implemented by Assam Small Industries Development Corporation (ASIDC) Ltd under Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP), a world bank-supported Central Sector Scheme under Ministry of MSME, Govt of India.
The main prospect of the workshop was to showcase the importance of tourism, hygiene, and soft skills like etiquettes and manners, behavioural skills, language and communication skills along with the various schemes of the government.
Over 40 members of the local resort and hospitality sector under Hojai district participated in the programme. The General Manager (I/C), DICC, Hojai, Rupanjit Bhattacharya inaugurated the programme, while Secretary of HUM Sujay Kumar Dutta welcomed all present in the workshop. Yasmin Laskar, ASIDC, focused on rural tourism.
Khagen Saikia and Hemanta Baishya from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition attended the event as the key resource persons and spoke elaborately about the tourism and hospitality sector and its scope.
One local agro resort entrepreneur Oryza Eco Farm welcomed all to visit and explore Hojai. The participants were highly satisfied with the programme and expressed their gratitude.
