Thoubal (Manipur): In a significant seizure of drugs and other smuggled goods, joint security forces of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered 72 kg of brown sugar and other smuggled goods from various parts of Manipur.
The smuggled illegal foreign goods along with the brown sugar is worth Rs 287 crores, the security forces said. The goods and the drugs were found in a hideout in Kamu village of Thoubal district.
In another operation, Assam rifles troops intercepted and seized smuggled illegal foreign goods worth Rs 75 lakhs from Moreh. The people involved in the transportation of the drugs and smuggled items and the recovered items were later handed over to the local police. Investigation is on.
