Mawsynram Mawjymbuin Cave row: Kutumba Surakshya Parishad pauses protests

SHILLONG: Satya Ranjan Borah, president of Kutumba Surakshya Parishad, writer, spiritual practitioner, and educational consultant, has informed that all protests concerning the Mawsynram Mawjymbuin Cave Shivling will be suspended until January 3, 2025.

“The Government of Meghalaya has responded positively and scheduled a much-anticipated meeting to discuss the matter of the Mawjymbuin Cave Shivling in Mawsynram on January 3, 2025. The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has invited us to attend this meeting through Memo No. C&S.12/MAW/2016/145-A, dated Shillong, December 23, 2024, and we have confirmed our presence. Accordingly, we will hold off on all forms of protests until the meeting. Future actions, if necessary, will be based on the resolutions and outcomes of the discussion,” Borah stated.

He emphasized that the Parishad’s actions are guided by constitutional principles and aimed at fostering unity. “We are not here to create any unwarranted situations or hurt sentiments of any religion, caste, or community. Our actions are in adherence to Article 51(A) of the Constitution of India. Our focus remains on contributing to national integrity and socio-cultural harmony. We appreciate the Meghalaya government’s initiative and extend our gratitude for their efforts,” he said.
