SHILLONG: In a significant stride toward boosting employment opportunities in Meghalaya, 124 candidates were handed their appointment letters during the 14th Rozgar Mela held at the NEIGRHMS auditorium in Shillong. The event, part of a nationwide initiative held across 45 locations simultaneously, marked a key step in the government’s efforts to empower the youth.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan presided over the ceremony, organized by the 67th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Addressing the gathering, the minister congratulated the newly-appointed candidates and emphasized the government’s focus on mobilizing the youth for national development.
“I want to congratulate the 124 individuals who have secured positions in various departments. Prime Minister Modi envisions a future where our youth are effectively mobilized to contribute to the nation. While the climate in this region poses challenges, limiting actual working months to just five, we are committed to improving infrastructure and have set a deadline of March 2025 for key road projects,” Paswan said. He added, “The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is making progress in the Northeast despite the challenges, and we are dedicated to overcoming them.”
The appointees will serve in several government departments, including the CRPF, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Ministry of Health, Indian Railways, Border Security Force (BSF), Postal Department, and Ministry of Finance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the event, which saw the distribution of 71,556 appointment letters to new recruits nationwide. This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to fostering employment and addressing the aspirations of the nation’s youth.
