Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Bags Prestigious National Award

MIDC became the only corporation in Meghalaya to achieve quality management and environmental sustainability certifications earlier this year.

GUWAHATI: The Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (MIDC) was honored with a National Award for Outstanding Performance during the 10th National Awards function of the Council of State Industrial Development & Investment Corporations of India (COSIDICI) on 6 December 2024.

Held at the Auditorium of the College of Veterinary Science, Assam Agricultural University in Guwahati, the event celebrated MIDC's successful turnaround strategy, emphasizing financial prudence, operational efficiency, and the promotion of industrial growth.

James P.K. Sangma, Hon’ble Chairman of MIDC and the Guest of Honour at the event, highlighted the corporation’s transformative efforts over the past 18 months. 

MIDC became the only corporation in Meghalaya to achieve ISO 9001:2015 (quality management) and ISO 14001:2015 (environmental sustainability) certifications earlier this year. Secured a ₹200 crore investment from M/s Varun Beverages Ltd., establishing one of the largest bottling units for PepsiCo globally in Meghalaya.

Hans Raj Verma, Director General of COSIDICI and former IAS officer, commended MIDC’s efforts, stating that the corporation serves as a model for other State Industrial Development Corporations with its innovative and sustainable practices.

Ajanta Neog, Hon’ble Finance Minister of Assam, along with other dignitaries, also graced the event, underscoring the importance of such achievements in promoting industrial growth across the country.

The COSIDICI National Awards recognize organizations that excel in supporting MSMEs and driving industrial growth, setting benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and inclusive development.
