AGARTALA: Tripura Police have arrested six people for stealing valuable items from the CBI camp office in Agartala’s Shyamali Bazar. The stolen items, including furniture, appliances, and other belongings, were recovered after CBI Inspector Anurag filed a complaint.
According to New Capital Complex (NCC) Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Subrata Barman, the complaint was lodged at the NCC Police Station on February 11. The report mentioned that steel almirahs, doors, windows, electrical appliances, and chairs were stolen from the camp office. Officials last visited the site in September 2024, and the theft was only noticed in February, giving the thieves plenty of time to commit the crime.
During the investigation, the cops initially caught two people, Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik. Their questioning led to the recovery of stolen items like seven steel almirahs, seven doors, four windows, a geyser, and a chair. Later, four more suspects were arrested and all of them stay near the CBI camp office. The six accused are set to be presented before the court, with police seeking their remand for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, a team from the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) found a large stash of stolen electrical materials at a scrap yard in Dakhingaon, Kahilipara. Led by Bhagaduttapur OP, the team searched the yard carefully and recovered a big amount of stolen goods.
