GUWAHATI: Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEBSC) secured their place in the final of the 70th Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship (Kamrup Metro Leg) with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Assam Police in the second semifinal at the SAISC Ground today. The decisive goal came from Chandan Barman in the second half.
ASEBSC will now face DBISC in the final, set to take place at the same venue on Thursday.
The semifinal saw an intense battle, with both teams displaying quality football. ASEBSC dominated possession in the first half, controlling the tempo of the game. However, the momentum shifted in the second half, with Assam Police taking control and pressing forward.
ASEBSC managed to break the deadlock early in the second half. A well-coordinated attack from the left flank saw Hiteswar Kaman deliver an excellent cross, which Chandan Barman expertly headed into the net, leaving Assam Police goalkeeper Parag Das with no chance.
Assam Police responded aggressively, launching a series of attacks in search of an equalizer. However, their efforts were in vain due to poor finishing in the final third, allowing ASEBSC to hold on to their narrow lead and secure a spot in the final.
