GTC Summer Challenge T20: Bud, City register easy victories

Sarupam Purkayastha and Diwiz Pathak hit fifties as Bud Cricket Club beat Navajyoti Club by 8 wickets in GTC Summer Challenge T20.

GUWAHATI: Powered by half-century performances from Sarupam Purkayastha and Diwiz Pathak, Bud Cricket Club secured an easy 8-wicket victory over Navajyoti Club in the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge T20 Trophy at Judges Field today.

 Chasing a target of 170, Bud reached it in 19.3 overs, losing just two wickets. Sarupam Purkayastha played a solid knock of 60 runs off 33 balls, including three boundaries and six sixes. He was well-supported by Diwiz Pathak, who also scored 51 runs off 38 balls, hitting two boundaries and four sixes.

Earlier, Navajyoti Club, invited to bat first, posted a competitive total of 169/3 in 20 overs. Raj Agarwal top-scored with 44 runs from 40 balls, including three boundaries and one six, while Rituraj Biswas contributed 40 runs off 30 balls with three over boundaries.

In the other match of the day, City Cricket Club defeated 91 Yards Club by 6 wickets. Asked to bat first, 91 Yards Club were bowled out for 111 in 20 overs. Kunal Sarma scored 34 runs, and Ronit Akhtar added 33. Rabi Chetri was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 15 runs.

City Cricket Club chased down the target comfortably, reaching 112/4 in 15.2 overs. Nasir Ullah and Rohan Hazarika contributed 33 and 32 runs respectively to guide their team to victory.
