GUWAHATI: In a significant move to boost football development, the Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Best of You India, a leading player management agency, to send selected U-19 footballers to Spain for advanced training. The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Gauhati Town Club Auditorium, where GSA Secretary Devajit Saikia and Best of You India Director Saurav Chatterjee formalized the agreement. The event was also attended by GSA President Paresh Chandra Das and Football Secretary L Pranab Singh.
As part of its grassroots development initiative, GSA has mandated that participating teams in the upcoming Bordoloi Trophy must include at least five U-19 players in their squads, with two of them required to be in the starting XI. To identify promising talent, GSA has also appointed spotters at each venue.
Sharing further details, GSA Secretary Devajit Saikia said, “We are committed to promoting young and promising U-19 footballers from Assam through the Bordoloi Trophy. As part of this plan, we will select 17 players through multiple screening rounds during the three phases of the tournament. These players will later be sent to Marbella FC in Spain for two weeks of advanced training, and two of them will receive an additional month of training.”
He added, “Best of You India will play a key role in executing this initiative effectively.”
Best of You is a renowned player management group both in India and abroad. They manage several prominent Indian players, including Sandesh Jhingan, Subhasish Ghose, along with top Assam footballers Halicharan Narzary and Parthiv Gogoi. The agency also facilitated Kylian Mbappé’s transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid.
Speaking to the media, Best of You India Director Saurav Chatterjee said, “Marbella FC offers state-of-the-art training facilities, and it is a preferred preseason training venue for many top elite football clubs around the world. Now, promising players from Assam will have the chance to train there.”
He further added, “If any player from Assam meets the standards of Spanish football during the training period, they could even get an opportunity to represent the club.”
Chatterjee also praised GSA’s initiative to promote young footballers through the Bordoloi Trophy.
