GUWAHATI: Navarang Club registered an emphatic 80-run victory over Gauhati Town Club in the 7th Assam Premier Club Cricket Championship held at Jagiroad on Monday.
A brilliant half-century from Ronit Akhtar (62 off 67 balls, 4x8, 6x1) powered Navarang Club to a competitive total of 214-7 in 40 overs after being invited to bat first. Valuable contributions from Biplab Saikia (32) and Mriganka Sarma (29) bolstered the innings. Avinav Choudhury was the pick of the bowlers for Gauhati Town Club, claiming 3-33.
In response, Gauhati Town Club were bowled out for 134 in 29.5 overs, undone by a devastating bowling display from Biplab Saikia (3-9) and Rudrajeet Deka (3-25). Despite resistance from Jayesh Hazarika (23) and Arnab Bora (22), the team fell well short of the target.
