Assam: 4,342 applications submitted so far, compared to 21.5 lakh in earlier editions under Mission Basundhara 3.0

Guwahati: The response of the state’s people to Mission Basundhara 3.0 has not been encouraging so far. Till the evening of Monday (Dec 2), a total of only 4,342 fresh applications have been submitted under the Mission, which was launched on October 20, 2024.

Significantly, during the first two editions of Mission Basundhara, altogether 21,53,479 applications were received by the state government. Compared to this, the submission of new applications has been minimal under Mission Basundhara 3.0.

The last date for submitting applications under Mission Basundhara 3.0 is December 31, 2024. It remains to be seen whether the response will get any better.

Under Mission Basundhara 3.0, there is a provision for filing review applications by those applicants who had their applications rejected during Mission Basundhara 2.0. The applications submitted under the review category are, however, slightly more than fresh ones. A total of 15,753 review applications have been submitted till December 2.

The first phase of Mission Basundhara commenced on October 2, 2021, and concluded on May 8, 2022, with the completion of the disposal of all applications received. In the first phase, out of the 8,13,981 applications, the services for 5,82,688 applicants were delivered by the state government.

In light of the people’s response in the first phase, Mission Basundhara 2.0 was launched on November 14, 2022, offering next-generation land-related services through the Sewa Setu portal. The application window was open until March 31, 2023, and the last date of disposal was November 14, 2023, and review of rejected cases was until December 31, 2023. In the second phase, 13,39,498 applications were received until March 31, 2023.

It should be mentioned here that, under Mission Basundhara 3.0, eight new services were added. These are: Review of MB 2.0 rejected cases pending for clarification; Digitalized settlement of land to non-individual juridical entities; settlement of erstwhile Bhoodan/Gramdan land; ownership rights to occupancy tenants in town lands that were erstwhile rural lands; offer of Reclassification suite; End-to-end digitalisation of annual patta to periodic patta (PP) conversion with rationalized premium rates in urban areas and peripheral areas; limited conversion of tea grant land to periodic patta; and settlement of land under SVAMITVA NC Village Survey.
