Guwahati: Chiranjeev Phukan emerged as the topper in the results of the Combined Competitive Examination, 2023, conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC). APSC declared the results on Thursday, recommending 235 candidates for appointment in ACS, APS, and Allied Services.
Significantly, seven women are among the first ten candidates topping the list of successful candidates. Chiranjeev Phukan, who topped the examination with 872 marks, is a first-class B. Tech from NIT, Silchar. In second place is Anisha Buragohain, a postgraduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science, who topped the list among women candidates, securing 823 marks. Himandri Jita Bora, a JRF scholar and postgraduate from JNU, Delhi, secured the third position, while Mrigakhi Baruah, a graduate and postgraduate from Delhi University, secured the fourth position. Tutumani Kakati of Muguria, Bajali, secured the fifth position. Among the other women toppers within the first ten are Mridusmita Ray of Goalpara, Mary Kalita of Bongaigaon, Diksha Sarkar from Sribhumi, Nilam Garg from Lakhimpur, and Ankita Chettri from the West Karbi Anglong district. The ten toppers have been recommended for the Assam Civil Services (ACS).
Partha Pratim Sarmah has been ranked first among the successful candidates recommended for the Assam Police Service (APS); Annesha Duarah has been placed in second position, and Bijoy Ahmed is in third place.
It needs to be mentioned that, out of 235 successful candidates, 45 candidates have been recommended to the government by the Commission for ACS, 35 candidates for APS, 107 candidates for Assam Accounts Service, 11 candidates for Inspecting Auditor, 1 candidate for Superintendent of Taxes, 1 candidate for Superintendent of Excise, 13 candidates for Assam Finance Service, 6 posts for Block Development Officer, 4 candidates for posts for Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, 4 for posts of Inspector of Taxes, 4 for posts of Inspector of Labour, 1 for the post of Assistant Employment Officer, and 3 for the posts of Sub Registrar.
It is also worth mentioning that posts have been reserved for Moran and Motak communities for the first time ever.
APSC sources said the entire process, beginning from the Preliminary examination in March 2024, has been completed in a record time of almost 8 months. More than 67,251 candidates applied for the examination this year, which has been regularly conducted as per the calendar during the last few years, which has reposed faith and trust among the meritorious students of the state from all disciplines.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to congratulate the successful candidates of CCE 2023.
