Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said he is in constant touch with the High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Dr. Shilpak Ambule, to facilitate the swift return of late singer Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains to Assam.
The Chief Minister said the state government is closely coordinating the arrangements and assured that an update will be provided once the process is finalized.Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg reportedly passed away in Singapore on September 19 following a scuba diving accident. According to sources, he sustained serious injuries after falling into the sea during the activity. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.The news of Garg’s death has cast a shadow of grief across Assam, where the celebrated musician was regarded as one of the state’s greatest cultural icons.
