Guwahati: In an administrative move, the Government of Assam has abolished 43 Grade IV posts across various offices under the Directorate of Accounts & Treasuries and the Directorate of Audit (Local Fund), Assam. The decision, taken with immediate effect, was formally notified by the Finance Department through an official letter.
According to the order, 41 posts have been abolished immediately, while two additional posts will be considered abolished upon the retirement of the current incumbents. The abolished posts include peons, chowkidars, night chowkidars, and sweepers spread across audit circles like Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Diphu, Guwahati, Golaghat, Mangaldoi, Sivasagar, Silchar, Tezpur, Tinsukia, and Kokrajhar, as well as treasuries like Kamrup (M), Kamrup, Dispur, Nagaon, Hailakandi, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Badarpur, etc.
The decision is aimed at optimising manpower and resource utilisation within the government departments. The Finance (SIU) Department had earlier given its concurrence to the abolition proposal on May 19, 2025.
The affected offices have been directed to make the necessary updates on the FinAssam portal. The directive also includes communication to all relevant stakeholders, including the Accountant General (A&E), Assam, and various treasury offices.
