Tinsukia: The tea workers of Kharjan Tea Estate belonging to Apeejay Tea Limited staged a massive protest under the banner of the ACMS Panitola branch on Friday against non-deposit of workers' PF amounts to the Government.
In a memorandum to the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner and the management of the tea company, ACMS vice-president Raju Sahu stated that the company had not deposited PF of more than 40,000 workers and employees working in eight gardens of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts, amounting to several crores of rupees. The tea gardens Khobong, Talap, Hilika, Hokonguri, Budlabheta, Hapjan and Pengeree in the Tinsukia district and Kharjan in the Dibrugarh district.
The ACMS also demanded to fulfil its long-standing demands like a deposit of PF, payment of wages on time, clearance of outstanding bonus before Holi, the release of 60 per cent of enhanced wages etc.
