People’s Love For Zubeen Garg : 10,000 Lamps Lit Together In Tribute

To pray for the eternal peace of Zubeen Garg’s departed soul, 31 bhaonas will be performed.

Jorhat: The voice of Assam, popular singer Zubeen Garg, who embodied Assamese emotion itself, has departed for the unknown, leaving the entire people of Assam in tears forever. Assam fell silent, and people from all castes, communities,, and religions were submerged in a sea of sorrow.

Even now, every Assamese finds it difficult to accept Zubeen's death.

On Wednesday night in Jorhat, 10,000 oil lamps were lit together in remembrance of Zubeen Garg, praying for the peace of his departed soul, and an interfaith prayer meeting was held.

Everyone paid tribute to their beloved artist by lighting lamps and offered prayers with deep emotion, wishing for his soul to attain eternal peace.

This event was organized by the Pakamura Regional Rongali Bihu Coordination Committee, one of Jorhat’s leading sports, social, and cultural organizations, at Pakamura Lehetiyani Chapori. People from all sections of society  beyond caste, creed, and religion came together in unity to undertake this heartfelt initiative in memory of Zubeen Garg, the very soul of Assamese identity.

On the other hand ,31 Bhaona performances are scheduled to be held across Assam between October 31 and November 16 at Lehetiyani Chapori, in tribute to Zubeen Garg. Organizers have stated that invitations will be sent to Zubeen Garg’s family and the Chief Minister of Assam.

A local resident, who took part in the event, said that one of Jorhat’s leading sports, social, and cultural organizations  the Pakamura Regional Rongali Bihu Coordination Committee  had organized a special tribute on September 19 at Pakamura Lehetiyani Chapori, in memory of Zubeen Garg, whom he described as the “heartbeat of every Assamese heart.”

To pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul, people from all castes, creeds, and religions gathered together at Pakamura Lehetiyani Chapori, where 10,000 earthen lamps were lit in unison.

Along with offering prayers for the eternal peace of his soul, we also organized an interfaith prayer meeting at the same venue.
