ITANAGAR: The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has demanded the formation of a single-member fact-finding committee to investigate the recent incident involving TRIHMS Director Dr. Moji Jini and former student leader Byabang Joram.
Addressing the media at the Arunachal Press Club (APC) today, CoSAAP President Likha Tech stated that the organization strongly condemns any illegal action against government employees, including the incident involving Dr. Jini. However, he emphasized that CoSAAP will not extend blind support to any of its members if they are found at fault. The organization demanded the state government for a single-member fact-finding committee to investigate the incident. Tez also clarified that CoSAAP has officially removed the word “ransom” from its earlier condemnation letter against Byabang Joram.
He explained that the initial statement was issued as an immediate reaction to the incident and was based on personal sources.
“The organization seeks a permanent resolution to the issue and, therefore, appeals for a single-member committee headed by a retired judge, a serving judge, or at least a deputy commissioner,” he stated.
Reaffirming its commitment to state employees, CoSAAP stressed that while it stands for the welfare of its members, it will not hesitate to withdraw support from anyone found guilty of wrongdoing. CoSAAP has also called for maintaining peace and a cohesive working environment for employees at TRIHMS. On February 5, Joram was arrested by Naharlagun police for allegedly ransacking Dr. Moji Jini’s residence and intimidating him.
On a separate note, CoSAAP raised concerns over the increasing drug menace in the state, particularly the involvement of government employees. CoSAAP General Secretary Gonya Riba acknowledged the commendable efforts of the state police in combating drug-related crimes but highlighted the frequent arrests of police personnel in drug-related cases as a major concern. He urged the state Home Department to take strict action against officials found involved in drug trafficking or drug consumption, in accordance with the law.
Additionally, CoSAAP expressed serious concern over the delay in conducting the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings, which are supposed to be held every six months for the timely promotion of officers. Riba noted that the organization has been receiving numerous complaints regarding the prolonged delays and extensions of DPC meetings, which adversely affect deserving officers awaiting promotion.
