KOKRAJHAR: The Assam Civil Service Officer’s Association (ACSOA) expressed its unfortunate opinion over the conflict between the IAS and ACS officers in Barpeta district and sought the Chief Minister’s intervention to end the conflict. The secretary of ACSOA, Udayadita Gogoi, said the news item published in print and electronic media regarding the unprecedented incident that occurred between Rohan Kumar Jha, District Commissioner of Barpeta, and Arup Pathak, chief executive officer, Barpeta Zilla Parishad, came to their notice.

In this regard, the ACSOA expressed its anguish and condemned the incident. The secretary of the Assam Civil Service Officer’s Association, Udayadita Gogoi, in a statement said that being the head of the district, the District Commissioner is responsible for overall peace and development. It is the primary responsibility of the DC to maintain a healthy relationship with his/her colleagues; only then can the developmental process strive forward, but, due to the undesirable incident of November 29, the entire official machinery of the district is now in a disarray and precarious state, he said, adding that the incident has sapped the spirit of the ACS officers serving diligently at different levels of the state administrative setup.

The association further opines that the conduct of the IAS officer is completely unacceptable and violates the rules laid down by the state government. The association seeks the immediate intervention of the Chief Minister of Assam in this regard and demands exemplary punishment for the erring official.
