JAMUGURIHAT: A joint team of Biswanath and Sootea Police has been undertaking operations against drug peddlers, in which two drug peddlers were arrested on May 20. Based on an input given by caught drug peddlers Jamir Ali and Ikramul Hussain, the police team carried out an operation at Kekukali village, Khanamukh under Chariduar PS and managed to nab the mastermind of the peddlers gang, Nurjamal, in association with the police team of Khanamukh Outpost on Thursday night. The police team recovered 8 containers containing 10.69 grams of drugs. The team seized an Alto car bearing registration number AS12A G0659, cash amount of Rs 1,07,400, and a mobile phone. The accused was brought to Sootea PS that night. Further investigation is on, informed Trilochan Das, Officer in-Charge, Sootea PS.
It is to be mentioned here that the minority dominated areas have become a hotspot for drug peddlers. The conscious people have urged the police administration to bust the channel of commercialization of drugs.
