Assam: Bodoland Achievers’ Award given to 140 achievers in different fields

The Bodoland Achievers’ Award Ceremony, organized as an integral part of the 5th BTR Accord Day celebration, was held on Monday at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar.

KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland Achievers’ Award Ceremony, organized as an integral part of the 5th BTR Accord Day celebration, was held on Monday at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar. The event recognized the contributions of 84 departmental and 56 non-departmental achievers. As part of an initiative to enhance community outreach services for persons with disabilities, four mobile therapy vans were launched, and motorized wheelchairs were provided to specially-abled individuals, sponsored by The Hans Foundation.

Addressing the gathering, BTC Chief Pramod Boro highlighted the significance of Bodo Accord Day and its transformative impact on Bodoland. He emphasized the need for holistic development, combining infrastructure advancement with human development for advancement of the region. He reiterated the Council’s commitment to building a child-friendly and women-empowered BTR. Announcing a significant step towards women’s empowerment, he stated that 5 women from 420 VCDCs would be selected and trained for skills helping them attain employment. He also urged officials and departments to expedite programme completion, adopt a proactive approach in assisting the public, and focus on enriching their contributions to society. Highlighting the recently launched ‘Community Vision Document’, the BTC Chief announced that the Council’s Vision Document is set to be released in March this year.

Assam Minister for Textiles UG Brahma, in his address, reflected on the region’s growth and development over the past four years since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord. He highlighted key advancements such as the renovation of educational institutions, the introduction of modern agricultural systems to enhance productivity.

Earlier, Principal Secretary of BTC Akash Deep delivered the welcome address, commending the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in Bodoland under the leadership of BTC Chief Pramod Boro. He said that progress was unattainable without peace and stability. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including BTCLA Speaker Katiram Boro, Deputy Speaker Abhiram Mahanayak, MLA Jiron Basumatary, EMs, MCLAs, and Kokrajhar Municipal Board Chairperson Pratibha Brahma, among others.
