SILCHAR: Five students from Dhemaji, who were reported missing since Thursday, were finally found at the Silchar Railway Station by the police. Cachar SP Numol Mahatta informed that the students, of a private school in Dhemaji, were planning to move to Aizawl from Silchar to enjoy a vacation. The students, studying in the 9th standard, were all in good health and would be handed over to the higher authority of the police in Guwahati.
Mahatta said that on Thursday his Dhemaji counterpart Hitesh Roy informed that five students were missing from Gogamug and they had an input that the students were moving to Silchar by train. Accordingly, Mahatta along with the Silchar Sadar OC Amrit Singh started to keep an eye on all the possible places the students might arrive at. On Friday morning, the students were finally found at the railway station soon after they alighted from the train. Two of them were carrying guitars and one was with a cricket bat. Mahatta said that all the students seemed to be from decent backgrounds and quite meritorious in their studies. “Might be for an adolescent adventure, they wanted to spend a vacation in Aizawl with guitars and music,” Mahatta explained.
The students were properly treated by the Cachar Police, maintaining this, Mahatta said that as per the directives of the police top brass, all five of them would be sent back to Guwahati today itself and from thereon the Dhemaji Police team would take over and hand them back to their parents.
