DHEKIAJULI: A hazardous pothole likened to a ‘death trap,’ has been discovered on the bridge over the Gadzuli River in the Katalu Pather area of Sonitpur district, Assam. The alarming condition of the bridge which falls under the Borsola constituency was highlighted by the local residents today.

According to locals, the bridge has been in a state of disrepair for several years, with the massive pothole posing a severe threat to commuters, especially bikers and other vehicle users. The risk of accidents has escalated prompting urgent calls for action.

In response to the growing concerns, the residents have appealed to Barsola MLA Ganesh Kumar Limbu through the media, to prioritize the repair of the Gadzuli River Bridge. The bridge is a vital link for the community, serving as the primary route to Dhekiajuli town and connecting to the National Highway 15. It is also a crucial passage for students travelling to schools and colleges in the area.

“If the bridge is not repaired soon, we will face immense difficulties in the coming days,” said a local resident. He added, “It’s not just about convenience, it’s about safety. Accidents are waiting to happen if this issue is ignored.”

As the monsoon season approaches, the urgency to address this infrastructure gap grows even more critical. The residents of Dhekiajuli and Borsola await a response from their representatives hoping for a safer and more reliable passage over the Gadzuli River.
