Haflong: The Dimasa Heritage Museum, in collaboration with the Disru Research Centre and under the esteemed patronage of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (NCHAC), hosted a poignant felicitation ceremony to honour Padmashree Awardee Joynacharan Bathari on Thursday at Maibang. The event, though briefly interrupted by pre-monsoon showers in Maibang, was successfully rescheduled at Maibang Irrigation Guest House, where the spirit of celebration remained undeterred.

In his address, Bathari expressed his gratitude, emphasizing that the Padmashree Award is not solely a recognition for the Dimasa Community but a tribute to every community residing in the Dima Hasao district. The ceremony brought together dignitaries, scholars, and community leaders to pay homage to Shri Bathari’s remarkable achievements and contributions to society.

The chairman of NCHAC, Mohet Hojai, who had the honour of felicitating Joynacharan, highlighted the diverse talents within the district. He remarked on the multitude of avenues—such as art, music, and sports—through which individuals can achieve excellence. Furthermore, he announced that the District Council is in the process of implementing awards, similar to Assam Gaurav awards and Padma awards, to recognize and celebrate those who have brought accolades to the community and the district.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by Rajit Karigapsa, i/c Principal Secretary (N), Monjoy Thaosen, Chairman of Maibang Municipal Board, Rijit Kachari, SDIPRO Maibang, Binali Johori, and many others.
