Assam: Senior journalist Bulan Kumar Saikia passes away in Dibrugarh

Senior journalist, writer and poet Bulan Kumar Saikia passed away at his residence at Naharkatia in Dibrugarh on Thursday after suffering from liver cirrhosis.

DIBRUGARH: Senior journalist, writer and poet Bulan Kumar Saikia passed away at his residence at Naharkatia in Dibrugarh on Thursday after suffering from liver cirrhosis. Saikia breathed his last at around 3:45 am at his residence on Thursday.

Saikia was born on January 1, 1976 and started his journalism career in the year 1990s working with several esteemed news organisations such as NE TV, Adinor Sombad etc.

Apart from journalism, Saikia authored several books, including “Ajon Bikhur Janma”, Asom Bharat”, and “The Arakan Intel”.

He extensively wrote about indigenous food and culture. At the tome of his demise, he was working on a book titled “C-N-C” which remain unfinished.

Dibrugarh Press Club, Greater Dibrugarh Press club, Naharkatia Press club, Dibrugarh Journalist Association and several social organisation condoled the death of the journalist. Bulan Saikia left behind his parents, wife, daughter, and countless admirers who mourn his loss and celebrate his legacy.
