Assam: Seventh Poshan Pakhwada inaugurated in Sivasagar

The seventh edition of Poshan Pakhwada was formally inaugurated at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the Sivasagar District Commissioner’s Office with a ceremonial candle lighting.

SIVASAGAR: The seventh edition of Poshan Pakhwada was formally inaugurated at the Sukafa Conference Hall of the Sivasagar District Commissioner’s Office with a ceremonial candle lighting on Tuesday. The event was attended by Additional District Commissioner (Social Welfare) Geetalee Duwara, Election Officer and Branch Officer (Social Welfare) Barnali Khatiwara, District Social Welfare Officer Upama Saikia, along with officials from various departments.

District Social Welfare Officer Upama Saikia delivered the inaugural speech, emphasizing the importance of timely breastfeeding, the significance of Village Health and Nutrition Day and the registration of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. She also urged regular antenatal checkups for pregnant women and called for collective efforts from representatives of all concerned departments to ensure the success of this fortnight-long nutrition awareness campaign.

Additional District Commissioner Geetalee Duwara underscored the need for attention to every aspect of Poshan Pakhwada and encouraged all officials to actively engage in their respective roles.

The session concluded with a closing address by Upama Saikia, who expressed gratitude to Geetalee Duwara, Barnali Khatiwara, and all attending departmental representatives, seeking their continued support for the successful celebration of the seventh Poshan Pakhwada in the district.
